Message from Our Principal

"Education is not just about books; it's about opening doors that were previously locked. I've seen firsthand how a single tuition grant can change the trajectory of a child's life. Our mission at Neo Duong Tu Thien Road to Charity is to ensure those doors remain open for every child in our community, regardless of their financial background."

Detailed Stories from Our Missions

California Mission

California Mission: Supporting Students with Disabilities (June 1-15, 2025)

Location: Riverside Disability Education Center, California

Impact: 85 students with learning disabilities

Our team traveled to California to support a specialized education center serving children with physical and learning disabilities. We discovered that many of these students lacked access to adaptive technology and personalized tutoring due to budget constraints.

During our two-week mission, we:

  • Donated 30 specialized laptops with accessibility software
  • Trained 15 local volunteers in assistive technology
  • Established a peer-mentoring program pairing high-achieving students with struggling learners
  • Provided scholarships for 25 students to continue their education

"Before this program, I thought my disability meant I couldn't go to college. Now I have a laptop, a mentor, and hope for my future," said Marcus, a 16-year-old participant.

Anchorage Summer Learning Camp (July 10-25, 2025)

Location: Anchorage Community Center, Alaska

Impact: 150 students from low-income families

Summer learning loss is a critical issue affecting disadvantaged students. Research shows that low-income children lose 2-3 months of reading skills during summer break. Our Anchorage camp directly addressed this challenge.

During this intensive two-week program, we:

  • Provided 150 hours of intensive literacy instruction
  • Conducted daily STEM workshops (robotics, coding, environmental science)
  • Offered free breakfast and lunch to ensure students were well-nourished
  • Distributed 150 book sets to take home for continued reading
  • Assessed each student's progress and provided personalized learning plans

"My daughter came home excited every single day. She improved her reading level by a full grade in just two weeks," shared Ms. Johnson, a parent participant.

Results: 92% of participants showed measurable improvement in reading comprehension; 87% expressed increased confidence in academic abilities.

Detroit School Drive

Detroit Back-to-School Supply Drive (August 5-20, 2025)

Location: Detroit Public Schools District, Michigan

Impact: 1,200 students from 8 schools

In Detroit, 68% of students live below the poverty line. Many families cannot afford basic school supplies, forcing children to start the year unprepared. Our back-to-school drive aimed to level the playing field.

Our comprehensive initiative included:

  • Distributed 1,200 backpacks filled with essential supplies (notebooks, pens, calculators)
  • Provided 500 refurbished tablets pre-loaded with educational apps
  • Offered free eye exams and glasses to 300 students
  • Conducted parent workshops on supporting children's education
  • Established a scholarship fund for 50 high-achieving students

"This backpack means everything. My mom works two jobs and couldn't afford supplies. Now I can start school ready," said DeShawn, a 4th grader.

Long-term Impact: We've committed to ongoing mentorship and academic support for all 50 scholarship recipients through their high school graduation.

Atlanta Literacy Program Launch (September 15-30, 2025)

Location: South Atlanta Community Center, Georgia

Impact: 200 students; 50 adult learners

Literacy is the foundation of all learning. In Atlanta's underserved neighborhoods, 34% of adults lack basic literacy skills, perpetuating cycles of poverty across generations. Our comprehensive literacy program addresses both youth and adult learners.

Program components:

  • After-school reading clubs for 200 elementary and middle school students
  • Adult literacy classes for 50 parents and community members
  • Digital literacy workshops teaching computer and internet skills
  • Established a community library with 5,000 donated books
  • Trained 30 local volunteers as reading mentors

"I never thought I could read fluently. Now I'm reading to my grandchildren," shared Ms. Williams, an adult learner who improved from a 3rd-grade to 7th-grade reading level in 6 months.

Sustainability: This program is now operating year-round with support from local schools and corporate partners.
